Open Floor Plans

Traditionally, homes built pre-1990s were designed with many compartmentalized rooms– most often the kitchen, dining room, and living room.

The thought at the time was, the more rooms a house had, the more attractive, and ritzy it was. But designers and homeowners alike realized over time that homes with open floor plan designs could accommodate the average lifestyle better because there was much more usable living space, all within the same square footage.

Having a modern open floor plan increases social time and allows for better entertaining. When you have guests and friends over, you can be part of the group while you cook.

It makes it easy to watch the kids while engaged in other activities. Plus, the aesthetics is increased by the increase in views and natural light. By removing interior walls, sunlight from windows flows throughout the house.
